sackcloth and ashes

This is an offering to Mary by one of my personalities, Sorrow. Many of us are preparing for Marian consecration for the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, and so we are reading, praying, and learning. Mary has been an excellent mother to us and most of us are glad to have her. So, here is Sorrow’s offering to Mary:

I’m not used to the light
Or the holy places
I’m not real sure of Jesus
But you, Mary, are beautiful
You are his mother
He was born to be the sacrifice
The sacrifice for everyone
Which means my body and my blood
Cannot ever be a sacrifice
And that God the Father does not
Desire a sacrifice from me
Or from anyone else
It’s not who I am
It’s not who I was created to be
So Mother Mary
Keep showing me your son
I’ll keep praying the rosary too
And am grateful you’re here
And I consecrate myself to you
And in so doing
I consecrate myself even more to Jesus
Help me to know him
And to deliver me from all unholy things
And to walk in the light
I sit here in sackcloth and ashes
Bowing my head to you
May it be so
Love,
Sorrow
